MONOLIT BENCH

The bench was chosen in an international competition for urban furniture for prestigious Albertine garden, located in the center of Brussels, not far away from Brussels old town. It perfectly matches the existing recess of hedge, initially designed for typical benches without backrests. The height, width and depth of the designed solution were therefore dictated by the existing dimensions of the recess in the garden layout.

New benches became at the same time an inherent part of a very specific geometric French style of the garden. By their form, they also refer to the architectural context, as the ribbing refers directly to the facade of the Royal Library surrounding Albertine garden. Intentionally designed benches also have two seat heights so as to suit different users.

Ławka została wybrana w międzynarodowym konkursie na meble miejskie dla prestiżowego ogrodu Albertine, znajdującego się w ścisłym centrum Brukseli nie daleko starówki. Została idealnie wpisana w istniejące wnęki żywopłotu, przeznaczone początkowo pod typowe ławki bez oparć. Wysokość, szerokość i głębokość zaprojektowanego rozwiązania były więc podyktowane istniejącymi już wymiarami wnęki w układzie ogrodu.

Nowe ławki wpisują się jednocześnie w bardzo określony zgeometryzowany styl francuski ogrodu. Swoją formą nawiązują także do kontekstu architektonicznego, żebrowanie nawiązuje bowiem bezpośrednio do fasady Biblioteki Królewskiej otaczającej ogród Albertine. Celowo zaprojektowane ławki posiadają także dwie wysokości siedziska, tak aby dostosowywać się do różnych użytkowników.
